President U. Khurelsukh visited and got acquainted with the operations of MCS Coca-Cola

Under the initiative of the President of Mongolia, a national movement on “Food Supply and Safety” is being carried out across the country. Within this framework, President U. Khurelsukh visited the MCS Coca-Cola plant, which has been operating for 21 years under the official Coca-Cola franchise.

MCS Coca-Cola employs over 950 people, ranks among Mongolia’s top 100 companies, and operates production at a global standard with strict quality management systems. Currently, the company produces 160 varieties of drinks—including water, juice, and tea—under 21 brands, reaching consumers nationwide through more than 16,000 partners, bringing world-class brands to Mongolian customers.

President U. Khurelsukh emphasized: “Due to border and customs challenges, it is necessary to focus on food supply. In the coming years, the aim is to meet domestic demand with 19 core products and eventually export them. National producers and wealth creators such as MCS Coca-Cola will play a critical role in this. The MCS Group is a strategically important company for Mongolia due to its contributions to the country.”

The company’s first product produced under the VIO brand, Millenia natural mineral water, replaces imported products with domestic production, with plans to expand into exports.

Since 2018, MCS Coca-Cola has been implementing its “Sugar Reduction Program” in stages. Out of 46 flavors, 8 have had their sugar content reduced so far, and the plan is to reduce 1–2 flavors each year going forward.

To give consumers more choice, the company currently offers 8 sugar-free flavors and 9 low-sugar flavors (with less than 5% sugar content).

In this regard, the company highlighted the importance of promoting proper consumption of sugar-containing products and consumer education. In March of this year, CEO L. Myagmarjav provided input to the draft law on imposing special excise taxes on carbonated and non-carbonated flavored drinks containing sugar.

Over the past decade, as part of its corporate social responsibility and sustainable development goals, MCS Coca-Cola has reduced water usage by half per liter of product and installed facilities to purify all water used in production.

The company has also commissioned environmentally friendly, emission-free steam boilers powered by gas. Furthermore, as part of its goal to recycle all beverage containers by 2030, the company has launched the “Plastic-Free World” initiative, promoting waste separation and recycling habits among the public.
