MCS Coca-Cola Company Recognized as a “Water Ambassador” Organization

At the Second National “Blue Gold” Conference, held on the initiative of the President of Mongolia, MCS Coca-Cola was awarded the “WATER AMBASSADOR” recognition.

The company follows the 3R principles — Reduce, Recycle, Reuse — across all of its operations. As part of its program to improve water efficiency, since 2010 it has been treating and reusing 99% of the water used throughout its production processes. This water is purified to a level where fish can live, and it is used for non-drinking purposes such as road and area cleaning and irrigating green spaces. In addition, toward the end of last year, the company signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the use of the factory’s treated water to support additional water supply for the expansion of the Amgalan Thermal Power Plant.

The factory’s wastewater treatment facility has the capacity to purify 180,000 tons of water per year. Last year, the company reused 9,912 tons of treated water for purposes such as cleaning roads and areas and watering green spaces, contributing to the protection of groundwater resources. It is also worth noting that users can collect and use the factory’s treated wastewater free of charge.
