As a leader in sustainable development, MCS Coca-Cola LLC has introduced “BONAQUA,” the first product in Mongolia packaged in 100% recycled plastic that fully complies with international food safety standards. Bonaqua is one of the longest-established and most trusted bottled water brands in the Mongolian market. With this launch, it becomes the first brand to offer consumers environmentally friendly packaging and a more responsible choice.
This initiative is not only a milestone for Mongolia but also part of The Coca-Cola Company’s global sustainability journey. Mongolia has become the 11th country in Asia within The Coca-Cola system to introduce 100% recycled PET packaging. Notably, Mongolia joins highly developed countries such as Japan and South Korea, which are recognized for actively implementing sustainable development policies and leading in recycling.
A NEW CULTURE OF RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION
For MCS Coca-Cola, implementing every stage of the value chain—from raw materials to the finished product—within Mongolia creates positive impacts on both the country’s economy and the environment. Recycling plastic bottles into food-grade packaging reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 29% compared to producing bottles from virgin plastic.

We all know that trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen.
But did you know that by choosing three Bonaqua bottles a day, you can contribute to reducing carbon emissions equivalent to the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by one tree in a single day?
Therefore, choosing Bonaqua packaged in 100% recycled plastic is a tangible step toward protecting our planet.
HOW IS A PLASTIC BOTTLE “REBORN”?
The primary raw material used to produce conventional plastic water and beverage bottles is petroleum. In contrast, the raw material for recycled packaging comes from used PET-1 water and beverage bottles that consumers have already used. Therefore, sorting plastic bottles into designated recycling bins where they are consumed is the first step toward responsible consumption.
The plastic bottles you sort are collected by the TML collection company using its own transportation fleet and delivered to the recycling plant. Established in 2021, the TML Plant is the only food-grade plastic recycling facility in Mongolia that meets international standards and has the capacity to recycle all PET water and beverage bottles generated in the country.
Using equipment that complies with the standards of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the TML Plant recycles plastic through the following process before delivering Bonaqua in recycled packaging back into your hands.
THE BONAQUA REBIRTH PROCESS
We encourage everyone to choose Bonaqua, Mongolia’s first brand packaged in 100% locally recycled plastic, and make environmentally responsible consumption a part of everyday life.
